Overview

This lecture describes the approach involved in routine joint and soft tissue injections. Discussion will focus on the materials, surface anatomy and landmarks, relative and absolute contraindications for injection as well as complications. The lecture will also describe ultrasound guided methods.

Images of landmarks and ultrasound injections as well as video sequences will be shown followed by a question and answer session

Objectives

  1. to become familiar with the materials and medications involved in injections
  2. to improve ability to identify surface anatomy and to understand the injection method
  3. to appreciate indications and contraindications as well as complications in routine joint and soft tissue injections
