Dr. Stein is originally from Toronto and obtained his medical training at McGill in 1992. After a short stint as a GP he returned to study internal medicine then rheumatology at Dalhousie and Toronto respectively. He moved to Montreal in 2002. Currently, Dr. Stein is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the department of Rheumatology at McGill. He is a consultant Rheumatologist at St. Mary's Hospital and the Montreal GeneralHospital. His is involved in many teaching activities at McGill including attending on consult service, lecturing both medical students, residents and fellows. Dr. Stein has been a member of the RCPSC examination committee for rheumatology since 2013 becoming Committee Chair in 2019. Over the past few years, he has incorporated clinical utrasounography into his teaching practice. Dr. Stein is the current past president of CRUS (the Canadian Rheumatology Ultrasound Society) and has taught at many rheumatology sonography courses. He was the principal investigator of the ECHO trial looking at the use of MSK sonography in routine management of rheumatoid arthritis patients in Canada.
