Overview

The goal of this workshop is to make you not want to cringe when patients with back pain present to your office.  We will review how to differentiate emergent and urgent etiologies of back pain from the benign causes, identify important “red flags” on the history of back pain, review some physical examination tips to differentiate causes of back pain, and discuss basic principles of treating mechanical back pain.

 

Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Develop a systematic approach in the assessment of  patients presenting to the office with back pain
  • Be able to differentiate emergent and urgent etiologies of back pain from the benign causes
  • Understand the basic principles of treating mechanical back pain
