Treatment resistant depression

Daniel Zigman, Canada

This presentation will focus on how to approach patients with depression who do not respond to initial treatments. What works? What may be less likely to work? What can we tell our patients about newer treatments like second generation antipsychotics, rTMS, ketamine and psilocybin? What lifestyle interventions may be helpful?

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Define and recognize TRD
  • Understand advantages and disadvantages of therapies that have proven beneficial in TRD
  • Understand the role of ketamine/esketamine, second generation antipsychotics, lithium and other options
