Educational Background: Dr. Marino Discepola has completed a 3 year honours B.Sc. as well as 4 years of medical studies and a 5-year residency in Ophthalmology at McGill University. During his training he has won numerous awards and distinctions including the Fantham Memorial Prize, McConnell Award, Logan Scholarship, and was named University Scholar. He is a highly skilled and well respected ophthalmologist both locally and at the international level. Refractive Experience: Dr. Discepola has extensive experience in Ophthalmology and ocular procedures and has performed many studies in the field. He is on staff at the McGill University Health Center as well as St-Mary's Hospital in Montreal. He is also director of the McGill Cataract Surgery Division. As Assistant Professor at McGill University, supervisor of the Royal Victoria Hospital's Medical Student Elective Program, and member of the McGill Cataract Teaching Committee, Dr. Discepola passes on his knowledge and teaches ophthalmologists-in-training from around the world. Accomplishments and Awards: Dr. Discepola has traveled throughout much of the world to present his work and lecture on ocular surgery to the scientific community. He has published over 25 articles in prestigious peered-reviewed journals including the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, Acta Ophthalmologica, Ophthalmology, Clinical Therapeutics,and Ophthalmic Practice. Dr. Discepola is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
